Out of all the swimmers in the world, Ian Thorpe is my choice of the world's best swimmers.
He broke 3 world records, ( 400 meter freestyle, 200 meters freestyle, 400 meters freestyle relay) and had won in total 5 gold medals for Australia in the Olympics held in Sydney in the year 200.
